This machine is based on the Singer 127 (and even has similar decals), but was manufactured by Opel and has improvements over the Singer model, for example the stitch length regulator lever. Its Opel serial number dates it to 1900. It was made in Germany, not Singer's factory in Scotland and has no connection with Singer, apart from the look of it. There is a tendency to refer to many sewing machines as "Singers" as a generic term, when in fact they were manufactured by other companies.
