To Wind the Bobbin

Place it firmly on the spindle of the bobbin winder, letter J, Fig 4; loosen the upper belt wheel or pulley by turning the thumb screw, at right of hand wheel, half way round. Push the belt back of and into the groove of the pulley on the bobbin winder.

Place the spool on the spool pin A, first winding the end of the thread around the bobbin until it is fastened, and work the treadle, guiding the thread by the hand, held a few inches from the machine. Be careful to wind the thread evenly from side to side of the bobbin.

Do not heap the thread above the edge of the bobbin. Before beginning to sew, replace the belt and the thumb screw on the hand wheel as before.
