66 and 99 Bobbin Areas, Early and Later

Courtesy of Claire Sherwell. The design for the bobbin case removal latch on both 66 and 99 machines was altered to allow easier removal of the bobbin case in later models. The early latch 'finger' was more robust and fixed, shown on the left. Later models may be pivoted using a finger nail to allow removal of the bobbin case. These two versions were used both on 66 and 99 models. The piece of red felt should not be removed. It is the spot where a drop of oil is placed for lubrication.
