66 - Back & Side Clamping Feet

Courtesy of Claire Sherwell. The presser foot on the left has a 'back clamping' foot and takes back clamping attachments; the example on the right is a side clamping foot used on other Singer models. The experiment of using back clamping feet on the 66-1 and 66-3 may have been influenced by the feet used on Wheeler & Wilson's D9. The experiment was short-lived, by the 66-4 Singer reverted to side clamping feet all their 66 machines i.e. both Lotus and Redeye machines. For examples of the two different sets of back clamping attachments used by early 66 models see the www.needlebar.org/cm~nb/index.php?cat=23 : Singer Attachments Album.
