004b. Singer 12 - Early Faceplate Configuration - 1876

1876, made in Glasgow. The tension discs are a third of the way up the faceplate with the tension control knob also on the faceplate. In later models the tension was controlled by a knob on top of the faceplate, in line with the needle bar and presser foot bar. On this early Singer 12 the presser foot bar has a simple slotted bar, rather than a later knurled knob at the top. Square corners to raised area around slide plates.
