VS1 (Floral Decals)

#6376489, courtesy of Linda S. The Vibrating Shuttle No. 1, a fiddlebased VS machine was manufactured only c1884-86, treadle only. Characterised by a simple, low bobbin winder, kidney shaped rear inspection plate with decals on the faceplate. The VS1 has narrower slide plates than later VS models. Stitch length regulator on the bed of the machine.

Early version has a more basic faceplate configuration with a simple type of "lever spring" which is released by a button from the right of the faceplate, as with the Singer High Arm. This VS1 model has a conventional faceplate and tension configuration like a Model 12. The VS1 was superceded by the 27-1 (VS2). See Identifying Singer VS Machines and Singer Decals for further information, comparisons and Kilbowie variations. 20x1 needle.
