27-2

Known as the 27-2 (example shown here with Kilbowie handcrank). A Full Size machine with a bed length of 14 5/8 inches long (see Singer 28 for smaller sized machines beds). Features include a low bobbin winder, kidney shaped rear inspection plate, manual tension release without a shuttle eject button. Shuttle requires a notch towards the tip to seat correctly in the shuttle carrier and function properly. Available only as a treadle. Subsequent models had round rear inspection plates. See Identifying Singer VS Machines for further information, comparisons and Kilbowie variations. Occasionally varieties of 27 machines turn up that have been upgraded with a new shuttle carrier and shuttle eject button, making them appear to be a 127, but they are still a 27.

Size-wise: bed dimensions - 7" x 14.625"; needle to pillar base - 8 1/8", height to tallest place under arm 5 1/2". Basic Singer Identification.
