201-2

The 201-2 as a horizontal rotary sewing hook and reverse feed mechanism. It was specially designed for operation by electricity, having its gear driven motor built on the back of its arm (commonly known as a "potted motor") and built-in Singerlight on the front. See Different Motor Types.

By contrast, most 201s from Kilbowie are belt-driven from an external motor with the light mounted at the rear of the machine. The machine pictured here is a 201K2 #EA140085 from 1935.

Needle threads right to left.
